The restaurant that you can enjoy hand made food from scratch, local ingredients, and beautiful farmland views. Also known as “Farmer’s Restaurant”. Our family has been a farmer for about 100 years in Hokkaido since we came here from Niigata prefecture. The owner of this restaurant is the 4th generation of our family. In 1999, he opened a restaurant in the middle of the farm field. Beginning of the “Kitchen FARM YARD.”
The secret behind our flavor is high-quality vegetables and herbs. We use many ingredients that were freshly harvested from our farm to create our dishes. We use a variety of seasonal lettuce for salad and dressings are also hand made from scratch. The top-quality vegetables that were raised in our farm are harvested at the perfect moment and prepared on the dishes. During the harvesting season, we also sell a variety of vegetables in the cafe on the first floor.
At the Farm Yard, we use original blend spice that’s made from ten different kinds of spices.
Black tea we use at the restaurant comes from the Sri Lanka tea farm and selected by the Takeshi Isobuchi (Black Tea Expert) who researched black tea in Sri Lanka. Owner of Farm Yard traveled to Sri Lanka to meet with Mr. Isobuchi and studied about black tea under him.
For our coffee, we use Guatemalan coffee that we roasted in the restaurant.
The Farm Yard wants to pay tribute to Takeshi Isobuchi (1951 - 2019) who was a pioneer of black tea research in Japan. Farm Yard would not have been the same without his expert knowledge of black tea.
Our Pastries are all handmade from scratch. We use various kinds of freshly harvested vegetables and fruits to make our pastries.
Summer strawberries, juneberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc… are all grown and harvested in our farm. We turn them into delicious and beautiful pastries.
You can enjoy the great and beautiful scenery of Hokkaido from the second floor of the restaurant in the middle of the farm field. On a sunny day, you may also see the Yubari mountain.
The restaurant is surrounded by 20 years old garden.Flowers that were planted when Farm Yard started reproduced itself and still blooming beautifully in different seasons.
The restaurant provides a hall between the first floor and the second floor for our customers to relax and wait for their table. We set out many handmade goods and accessories in the hall. Most of them are made by local artists and you can also purchase them. There is also a wood stove in the hall. It heats the restaurant comfortably during the winter. The outside view from the second floor might not be colorful but filled with beautiful white snow.
As autumn clears the leaves from the trees, it makes winter a perfect time for bird watching. Our bird feeders are visited by many types of wild birds, which you can see from the first floor window of the restaurant. If you’re lucky, you may even see migratory birds passing through!
